ABOUT DOORNKOP
Located a mere 2.5 hours outside of Johannesburg, in the sprawling landscape of Carolina, Mpumalanga, Doornkop Fish & Wildlife Reserve boasts spacious self-catering chalets which are tailored to fly fishing and family holidays. The Reserve is nestled comfortably amongst rolling hills and sweeping, soft green plains; a true escape from the hustle and bustle of city-living. Get back to nature and the spectacular outdoors with a range of activities to suit every mood. Anglers have a choice of eight, well-stocked dams at which to spend their sporting days, while families and loved ones can enjoy the scenic routes on foot or by bicycle, equipped with a delectable picnic basket to accompany the view from any one of Doornkop’s panoramic and ideally situated lookout points.
Our visit to Doornkop Fish and Wildlife Reserve was everything and more! The views from our bedrooms were spectacular, and the sound of water from the river in the mornings and evenings was amazing. We tried identifying the birds and animals from the balcony area while enjoying coffee and chatting. The fireplace made our conversations and lounging very cosy. Our hike was a bit of a challenge, however, the waterfall was a great reward. We are currently planning our summer visit.
